If there is an abnormality on imaging that needs further clarification, your radiologist, in consultation with your doctor, may decide to get a needle test to confirm its nature.
This involves taking a tiny piece of the size of a rice grain from the abnormality which is then assessed and reported by the pathologist. Should this procedure be recommended, the radiologist will discuss details and preparation with you.
